_- January 3rd was Veteran's Appreciation Night at Chick-Fil-A and the Executive Board Meeting was held at 7PM at Stars and Strikes.
- January 10th, the General Membership Meeting featured Mike Ross, "Shot Down by Friendly Fire".

- March 14th, at 7 PM, the General Membership Meeting was held with Author Mark Shaughnessy, who wrote "A Tale of Two Brothers". Post 307 member Mark Shaughnessy has authored a book, along with his brother Don about their experiences during their service in the Army in Vietnam. Don is an American Legion member living near Cleveland, Ohio. The brothers provide a perspective for families of Vietnam veterans to understand what their loved one may have gone through. Mark was instrumental in a support role while Don, an infantryman, fought in the jungle with the 101st Airborne Division.
- April 14th, our Post presented plaque awards to some of the North Forsyth High School Varsity Rifle Team members. Pictured from Left to right, Rebecca Godwin - Most Valuable Shooter, Samuel Kemp - Rookie of the Year, and Morgan Hubert- Most Improved Shooter. We are very proud of this marksmanship team and the entire Corps of Cadets at NFHS. We also appreciate the great job done by both Gunny Snook, team coach, and Major Mac Kelly as the MCJROTC leaders.

- May 6th 2011, Geoff Toman, Commander of Cumming Post 307, commented on the death of Bin Laden in the Forsyth County News.
- May 21 st, Armed Forces Day, was the hottest day of the year to date, as well as the day we typically have our fundraiser BBQ. Yes, it was over 90 degrees most of the afternoon. We raised over $2,000. Special thanks to Mike Pilling and Ingram’s Funeral Home for letting us use their very large tent.
- Post 307's John Arant was elected to District 9 Commander and current 307 Commander Geoff Toman was elected Jr. Vice Commander. John and Geoff's missions are to serve the members and Posts of the District, promote patriotism and Americanism with our variety of youth programs.
- May 2011 saw the start of American Legion baseball season. Our team, the Tigers, were again coached by Steve Oldham. All home games were played at North Forsyth High School. They had 28 games on the regular schedule and then the playoffs started on July 22nd. The schedule and location changes were maintained at www.post307baseball.com. We appreciate the fine job Coach Oldham and Committee Chairman John Brady did organizing our team this year.

- On Sunday, June 11th the Forsyth County News published the notice (above) that the Cumming Post 307 would hold a flag retirement ceremony.

- July 4th was the Steam Engine parade in Cumming and was led by the Post 307 Honor Guard with their colorful uniforms and Pith helmets. In the photo above are District 9 Commander John Arant, Post 307 Commander Geoff Toman, Post 307 Judge Advocate Nick Youdell, and 2nd Vice Commander Kevin Smith.
- July 23rd, there was a Post 307 field trip to Fort Benning. The cost was $20, which covered gas, donation to the museum, 90 minute tour and entrance to the IMAX theatre.
- August 6th was the Old Soldiers Day parade in Alpharetta.
- August 8th was the monthly General Membership Meeting and the annual election of officers for 2011 - 2012.

- September 23rd, we had the first annual Post 307 Golf Tournament at the Countryland Golf Course. 48 golfers enjoyed the day and contributed over $3,000 to the Post 307 treasury. Tournament Chairman, Guy Sillay, was commended for making this event so successful and many thanks to all the volunteers and companies which sponsored a hole or donated a door prize. This is expected to become an annual event.
- November 11th, Veteran's Day events were very special this year -- especially at Haw Creek Elementary School. Not only did students write letters to the troops, sing patriotic songs,thank all the veterans in attendance for their service, but they also collected 20 boxes of toiletries, socks, underwear, toothpaste, and candy for the Ladies' Auxillary to take to Veteran's Hospital. Special thanks to Dennis Brown, Sr. Vice Commander, and Pauline McKinny, Auxillary Chaplain, for their part in the school program. Other programs the Post participated in were at Settles Bridge Elementary School, Daves Creek Elementary School, and the main ceremony at the Cumming Veteran's Memorial.
- November 10th, the Post celebrated the Marine Corp's 236th birthday with the North Forsyth Jr ROTC Cadets at NFHS doing a 'Pass-in-Review'.
- Between Poppy Day and Veteran's Day combined, and with the help of Mayor Gravitt, we raised over $2,700 to benefit VA Hospital patients and Nursing Home patients at Christmas time and in 2012. We have jewelry, watches, slippers, socks, small kitchen appliances, batteries, and we bought a 51" Flat Screen TV for the Day Room at the nursing home.

- December 2nd, the annual blood drive was held at Samaritan Dr at Old Hospital.
- December 4th, we attended the Disrict 9 Quarterly Meeting at Post 251, Duluth.
- December 5th, the Executive Board met at Stars & Strikes and was catered by Chick-Fil-A.
- December 7th, Pearl Harbor Day was observed.
- December 8th, we went to the VA Hospital to be personal shoppers for the patients.
- December 14th, at 6:30 PM, the Post Christmas Party was held at the CooCoo's Nest restaurant. Cash bar and cost per person was $15 for the buffet, with a choice of Chicken or Pasta Entre, vegetable, dessert, and beverage. Also included, was a toy drive for Ariel's House, a halfway house for abused children. Participants brought an unwrapped gift for a child under 10 yrs old and costing less than $10.
- As of December, the Post had met the annual membership goal for 2011 set by District 9. In the 4th Quarter, nearly 40 new members joined the Post, either as new Legionnaires or by membership transfer.
